The sermon this week (May 11th) made the point that Christ's death on the cross was not a defeat by any means.  Rather, it was the moment of His glorification and His victory over sin.  God was working even in and through the worst that humanity has to offer--the crucifixion of God's Son.  God's will and purpose was accomplished at the cross but this does not mean those who carried out the brutal act are not held responsible.  God's sovereignty and human responsibility need to be held in tension with each other.
