The sermon this Sunday (April 13th) was titled, "Living in a Gated Community." In John chapter 10, Jesus says He is the Good Shepherd and we are His sheep. But He also says that He is the gate for the sheep. What does He mean by that? This sermon explores the meaning behind the imagery of Jesus as the gate for His sheep.

A Jesuit missionary (Jeremy Irons) establishes a church in the hostile jungles of Brazil (circa 1750) and then finds his work converting the Rain Forest Indians threatened by greed and political forces among his superiors. Rodrigo Mendoza (Robert De Niro) is a heartless soldier who kills his own brother and then convinces Irons's missionary to oversee his penance and conversion to the clergy.This film won the 1987 Oscar for best cinematography. It is rated PG and is just over 2 hours long.We will meet at church at for pizza and begin the movie around .Discussion time will follow.There will be a sign up sheet in the vestry—please sign up or call to let us know if you plan to come for pizza.
