Welcome to Bethlehem Covenant's online ministry. The sermon for Oct. 21st was called "All Scripture is Useful." Paul tells the young church leader Timothy that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Paul's point in the passage (2 Timothy 3:14-4:5) is that all of Scripture is useful for us and relevant to us. The Bible matters (or should matter) to us in our daily living. We can't prove the Bible is God's word--we don't have to. We just need to live it out and see for ourselves. Let's live it in our lives and we will see that it is relevant and useful for us here, now, today.
Here are some upcoming events on our calendar: Bible Study--Thursday Oct. 18th at 7pm. We are studying the gospel of John. Concert--"Shiloh" performs at Bethlehem at 7pm on Sat. Oct. 27th. Doors open at 6:45pm. Concert is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be taken to support this music ministry. For more information visit Shiloh's website: www.shiloh-band.com. Harvest Soup Luncheon—Sunday, Oct. 28th following the worship service. This is sponsored by the Missions Committee. Please plan on staying for the soup and fellowship. Swedish Meatball Supper—Saturday, Nov 10th. One annual event you don't want to miss! Seatings at 4:30 pm and 6pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under. There will be a Holiday table and bake sale as well. Call the church office (508-752-1459) to make your reservations.
Movie Night—Sat. November 17th. We will be watching “The Rookie.” Jim Morris (Dennis Quaid) strikes an intriguing bargain with the Texas high school baseball team he coaches: If they make the playoffs, he'll try out for a pitcher position with a big league team. The high schoolers hold up their end of the deal, and, against great odds, Morris makes the team, fulfilling his lifelong dream. Based on a true story. Rated G. We will meet for pizza at 5:30pm (sign up downstairs if you are coming for pizza) and the movie will start around 6pm. Discussion time will follow.
