Another year is aljost through. Hard to believe. Seems like just a couple years ago that people were all worried about Y2K. I don't usually make any New Year's resolutions, but I am this year. My goal is to be healthier--physically and spiritually. I won't go into specifics here, but I do have a couple ambitious goals set. Becoming healthier physically and spiritually is probably a good goal for us all each year.
Thanks to all who helped out at church this Christmas season. It was a very busy time, more so than usual, but the services were very meaningful and well done. May God bless you as we head into the new year. God will do great things at Bethlehem this year, I am convinced of that!

Today it is already the Third Sunday of Advent. In Advent we examine the coming of Christ and the prophecies leading up to His birth. In this season of waiting, we prepare for the Christ Child to be born again...in our hearts. And we long to come home as I mention in the sermon today. The goal in baseball is to get safely home--and so it is with our lives and our faith. Our longing is to be safe at home one day with God. May God bless you this Christmas season.

It seems to have been a little bit longer than expected since the last news update on the site, but nevertheless, I'm here to let you all know whats been going on. I would like to start out my expressing my sincere gratitude to all of you who have supported me in my recent venture to attend a leadership conference in Washington, D.C. As John Schonning's message in the newsletter said, without your support, there is no way I would be able to make it to the conference and less than two weeks later, I have received more than half the necessary support. So thank you all, very very much! :-)
Speaking of the newsletter, it was posted online a few days ago and should be available for all to view. If for some reason you did not receive an e-mail alert reminding you that it is online and you wish to receive such an alert, please send a message to

and you will be added to the 'mailing list'.
At the beginning of this month, the church congregation met for a special gathering of to vote on the purchase of a new sign for outside front of the church so we will be more visible to those just 'passing by'. The vote passed unanimously following a wonderful presentation of the agenda by John Schonning. Thanks to the members of the Sign Committee for putting everything together and to the congregation for being so accepting of the concept. Keep an eye out in the coming months for a new 'ornament' on the front lawn. ;-)
In other news, comfirmation will be starting up this Sunday afternoon for those youth of our church wishing to learn more about their Lord to become better acquainted. Please see calendar on the left-hand side of the page for dates and times. I would like to thank you all for visiting, and I hope you come back again soon (for the weekly news updates, of course).
God Bless,
Justin

I would like to appologize to everyone for not having the service online last week, but we had some technical difficulities and then just ran out of time. Before I knew it, today was upon me and I hadn't run last weeks service. Nevertheless, today's service and Pastor Dave's wonderful sermon 'Faith and Deeds' have made it online with little error. I appologize for any inconvenience, but once again, this weeks service and sermon are both available online as of now.
Now for a few upcoming events...
Next Sunday, Carolyn Graham and our Choir will be joining us once again in the celebration of Bob and Esther Elbe's 60th anniversary. I would like to extend my congradulations to them. As Pastor Dave put it this morning, "Esther must be a Saint to have been able to put up with him for 60 years."
On Sunday, October 1st, we will be having a bake sale to raise money for choral music that the Music and Worship Committee is looking to purchase. Also on the same day, directly following the worship service, a congregational meeting will be held to vote on a new sign for out front of the church, which the council has already approved.
Please stay tuned for future updates. I will try to post church news every Sunday and starting in the middle of October, each committee of the church will be posting their own news on the website. Be sure to check it out!
God Bless You All,
Justin Stafinski
