Today is the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany, which means "to shine forth." We celebrate the coming of the Christ Child into the world--light shining forth in the darkness. Today has also been designated "Amazing Grace Sunday." A new movie called "Amazing Grace" is coming out this week (Friday). It is the story of William Wilberforce who worked for years to end the slave trade. He was a member of the British Parliament and also good friend of John Newton. Newton was a former slave trader and was converted to Christianity and then later wrote the hymn, "Amazing Grace." Newton became a mentor of Wilberforce. We encourage you to see this movie.
Today's sermon focuses on grace and also on the issue of racism. We live in a racialized society, unfortunately. What is that? Well, listen to and/or read the sermon to find out more. Movie Night—Saturday, February 24th at 6pm.The movie this month is Patch Adams.
This movie is rated PG-13 and is a comedy based on a true story.We will start at 6pm and popcorn will be provided.A brief discussion time will follow the movie.

It celebrates Christ's giving light to the whole world, which the Magi represent. The liturgical color is green, symbolizing the growth of the church throughout the world.
